Seeing the “Bat Signal”, I quickly went to work on weeding out the qualifiers for the “2011 5-Vowel Team”. I was joined by Amanda, Christina Kahrl, Kevin Goldstein, Jesse Spector, Steph Bee, Andy Collins, Sean Boulton and others in populating the Twitterverse with every 5-vowel player we could come up with. This lasted for a good 45 minutes or so, and I promised to pick up the torch for a full investigation in a few days.
So, here is the complete list of active players who have all 5 vowels in their names (Don’t start on “but what about ‘y’?”. That’s a whole ‘nother kettle of fish.) It appears to help if your last name is “Rodriguez” and/or you played for the Astros in 2011, as they placed six players on this list:
