May is in the books, so let us see which hurlers are leading their respective leagues in the race for the annual “Pi Young Award“.
First up . . . the American League/no innings requirement. Detroit’s Al Alburquerque and the ChiSox’ Hector Santiago are in a statistical tie with the magic 3.14 ERA ration of five earned runs per 14.1 innings. The Astros’ Jose Cisnero is only .01 off the lead.
For the American League/ERA qualifiers group, two Indians hurlers are 1-2, as Zach McAllister and Justin Masterson have a very slim lead on the Rangers’ Yu Darvish.
In the National League/no innings requirement race, the Nationals’ Tyler Clippard holds the smallest of leads on the Rockies’ Jorge De La Rosa and the Giants’ Madison Bumgarner sits at 3.12.
|Jorge De La Rosa||3.16||COL||6||3||62.2||22|
In the National League/ERA qualifiers contest, Bumgarner and De La Rosa share the lead, and the Reds’ Mike Leake is a distant third.
