Three True Outcomes Update – July

Last year, Major League Baseball set an all-time record when 33.5% of all plate appearances ended in a walk, strikeout or homers (the “three true outcomes“).

Here at the VORG, monitoring “TTO” is one of our pet projects. Each month this season, we’ll be checking on the assault on the TTO record, both on the league and player level.

Through July 31st, though the rate decreased a bit from June’s 33.9%, MLB is still ahead of the record pace of 2017 with a TTO mark of 33.7%.

On the individual level, no batting title qualifier this season is besting Joey Gallo‘s record of 58.7%, set last season. However, there are currently only two players above 50%, one of them being Gallo himself. Here’s the top ten:
