Last year, Major League Baseball set an all-time record when 33.5% of all plate appearances ended in a walk, strikeout or homers (the “three true outcomes“).
Here at the VORG, monitoring “TTO” is one of our pet projects. Each month this season, we’ll be checking on the assault on the TTO record, both on the league and player level.
Through April 30th, MLB is ahead of the record pace of 2017 with a TTO mark of 34.6%.

On the individual level, no batting title qualifier this season is besting Joey Gallo‘s record of 58.7%, set last season. However, there are currently seven players above 50%.
